I have some jewellery stock at Dawn's Atelier in Main Street, Upper Hutt. She has kindly featured me in her 'Meet the Maker' series this week! How very exciting! This is the text that was used, and the photo was taken by JAB Rocks at the recent Linden Community Centre market. Thanks guys, you rock! ✨ MEET THE MAKER ✨
Hi, I’m Hilary — the face behind Amped & Revamped I’ve always been drawn to pieces that others might overlook. I love taking something a bit tired or forgotten and turning it into something fresh, fun, and full of personality. For me, it’s all about the transformation — a bit of creativity, a bit of experimentation, and seeing where it ends up. Before this creative chapter, I spent over 40 years working in Finance across three different countries — so it’s fair to say I’ve had a bit of a journey to get here! Two of my proudest professional moments were gaining my LLB Law Degree (years after qualifying as an accountant), and even getting my name in the credits of NZ TV shows — which was a bit of a thrill. These days, I’m loving doing something more hands-on and creative. Every piece I work on is different, which is what keeps it exciting. I don’t really do “perfect” — I like character, texture, and things that feel a little bit unique. If it makes you smile or sparks a bit of joy, then I know I’ve done my job. I also love that what I do gives things a second life. It feels good to create in a way that’s a little more sustainable, while still making something special for someone else to enjoy. You can find my work in-store at Dawn’s Atelier 📍 Shop 5, City Arcade, 123 Main Street, Upper Hutt

It's always fun to create new gifts from preloved items. For a recent market, I made these unique gifts.
During the last few months of 2025, I went to a number of local craft markets with my recycled gifts, books and jewellery. I always enjoy going to the craft markets when I get to see familiar crafters and meet new ones. At the last market, I took some new gifts - including some recycled and repurposed teapots and some new book folded vases with plastic/fabric fake flowers.
They looked lovely in the sunshine! Unfortunately, with current restrictions, many markets are unable to operate. I'm investigating an online order/sales system. Watch this space for further news.
I'm back at the RePurposed Market this weekend. Come on down and see what lovely new stock I've got for you to enjoy!
I was back at the Petone Indoor Market yesterday and a lady bought one of my favourite items: the owl necklace. She said her Mum loved owls and she was going to give it to her as a gift. I'm sure her Mum will love him.
Not quite two weeks since I thought of the idea for Amped and Revamped, and this morning I took my first bundle of stock to a ladies group networking meeting. The response was amazing.
